I’m in Zhangmu, Tibet now. Its the border town on the Tibetian side after crossing from the nepal side over the friendship bridge. There is a line on Friendship bridge that seperates Nepal from Tibet and u can have your feet on either side and be standing on 2 countries at the same time. Unfortunately since there were chinese border officials there, we couldn’t take any photos. The 1st 2 days after arrival in Kathmandu have been quite busy packing and shopping and getting everything sorted before we had set off for tibet. There is just so much logistics involved in such a big expeiditon like this. We’ll be heading off for Nyalam tmr and Tingri after that. We’ll be staying in Tingri for a couple of nights to acclimatise and doing a few treks for that purpose as well. The Cho Oyu team comprises of 9 members with 2 western guides. Most of them are American with 1 Australian and myself. These guyz look fit and experienced. Lets see how everyone fairs during the acclimatisation hikes. I must always keep reminding myself abt all the advise given by all the previous climbers from Singapore. ‘Take your time and don’t rush. Its not a race. There’s nothing to loose by being the last one. At the end of the day, its u who will have the last laugh by knowing yourself well… Lets hope this climbs goes smoothly and that the weather holds out.
